Two days ago I got my new lovely Nokia E72. A great phone!
Just an hour into transferring settings and installing software I discovered that Truphone does not support this phone! By the way, Truphone allways does that - they like staying behind!
So this is guide on how to setup Truphone on your nokia e72 (or any other symbian phone, not supported by Truhone).
1. On your old phone switch to Offline profile, if asked to create WLAN connection in Offline mode, answer "No".
2. Go to your SIP settings (probably Settings->Connections->SIP Settings. Choose Options->New SIP Profile. Use existing profile. Choose the Truphone profile. Now you have a "clone" of your Truphone profile. Give it any name.
3. Repeate step 2. (Yes, you have to)
4. Edit the profile you created in step 2. Go to both proxy and registrar settings and change the password to "my_long_sip_password". It doesn't have to be this password, and long string will do).
5. Go to Memory Card (in Settings) and create a backup to the memory card.
6. The backup has been saved as Backups\Backup.arc on the memory card. Copy this file to your computer.
Note: this file is hidden, to copy it, you have to take the card out of the phone and put it in a memory card reader. Since I do not have a memory card reader I did this: installed X-prolore on the phone, set it to show hidden files, copy the Backup.arc file to the Documents folder - now you can copy the file through the USB cable.
7. Download this program and place it in the same folder on your computer as the Backup.arc file.
Note: my antivirus program reports a virus in this file. I just ignored the warning and there doesn't seem to be a problem. If you are unsure, please download Sandboxie and run the program sandboxed!
8. This program takes a LONG time to run - 30min to 1hour... be patient. When finished it will create many files called 'block-...". These are a decrypted dump of your backup.
9. Almost done... Now. Download and install wingrep. It's very easy to use. Use it to search the text "my_long_sip_password" inside the "block-..." files. It should find only one file...
10. View this file. I used Notepad++ to view it. This file contains all your SIP settings... It will be easy to find your truphone password in it. It's a 10 letters/numbers password.
11. You are DONE. Now you have your truphone password and you can setup your phone!
